Mr. Chandana Shubhashana Guniyangoda—a distinguished finance professional with dual fellowships from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCA) and the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCMA)—as its new Independent Chairman, effective 10 December 2025.
With over 27 years of experience, including 19 years in commercial banking, Mr. Guniyangoda has earned widespread recognition for his leadership excellence and deep expertise in financial management. He holds a Master of Business Administration in Banking & Finance from the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura; a Master of Arts in Financial Economics (MAFE) from the University of Colombo; a B.Sc. in Business Administration (Special) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura; and an Advanced Certificate in Banking & Finance (ACBF) from the Institute of Bankers & IFS (London). He is also a member of the Institute of Professional Managers and the Association of Professional Bankers of Sri Lanka.
Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Guniyangoda has served in several strategic roles, such as Board Director, Key Management Personnel, Industry Expert, and ALCO Officer, and was part of a world champion team in Asset & Liability Management. His expertise spans Finance, Strategic Planning, Business Transformation, Process Reengineering, Cost Optimization, Human Resource Management, Asset & Liability Management, Risk Management, and Regulatory Reporting.
He has also held key leadership positions such as Assistant Vice President – Finance, Strategic Planning & Business Support at NDB Bank PLC, Director of Development Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd—a joint venture between NDB Bank and the Export Development Board. He was also an ALCO Officer & Senior Executive for Finance & Planning at Sampath Bank PLC. He began his career as a Trainee Graduate at Aitken Spence PLC.
Mr. Guniyangoda has also contributed to national development initiatives, serving as a Finance & Administration Specialist under the Agriculture Modernization Project of World Bank, where he played a pivotal role in restructuring institutional frameworks within Sri Lanka’s agriculture and plantation sectors.
He currently serves as the Group Chief Financial Officer of MG Group of Companies, Board Member of New Vithanakande Tea Factory (Pvt.) Ltd, Non-Executive Chairman of CCPI Management Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd, Honorary Board Member of Management at CA Sri Lanka SAB Campus, and a Non Executive Senior Independent Director of People’s Bank.
Mr. Fernando was appointed as a Non-executive, Independent Director of People’s Insurance PLC in June 2020. He has held many senior positions within the Expo Industrial Group which has diversified interests in Apparel, Food Packaging, Industrial Printing, Commercial Printing, Logistics Management, Engineering and Construction. He was the President of the Sri Lanka Association of Printers, Vice President of the Sri Lanka- China Business Council Cooperation. Mr. Fernando functioned as a Director of People’s Leasing & Finance PLC, Lankan Alliance Finance Limited, Bangladesh and People’s Merchant Finance PLC. Mr. Fernando presently serves as a Director of Expo Industrial Engineering (Pvt) Limited, Expo Property Developers (Pvt) Limited, Expo Printers (Pvt) Limited, Expo Cargo Links (Pvt) Limited, Expo Trade Links (Pvt) Limited and Shore to Shore (Pvt) Limited. He is also an advisory Board Member of the Benedict XVI Catholic Institute of Higher Education and Colombo Catholic Press, a Committee member of National Hospital of Sri Lanka and Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka.
Strategic Overview
Prof. Kasun Wijetilleke is a Consultant Psychologist and practising counsellor with multidisciplinary expertise spanning clinical psychology, psychotherapy, management strategy, finance, marketing and information technology. His combined experience in behavioural science and corporate strategy supports effective governance, human capital oversight and organisational transformation within a regulated insurance environment.
Professional Experience
Prof. Wijetilleke serves as Managing Director of Pubudu House of Education, providing strategic and operational leadership in education and professional development. His corporate experience includes Director – Client Leadership at Mindshare World/Unilever (Sri Lanka); Chief Strategy Officer at MAS Holdings – MAS Active Trading (Pvt) Ltd; Head of Cost Reduction at Star Garments Group; and service within the IT Department of Ceylon Tobacco Company/British American Tobacco.
He is also a Consultant Psychologist and currently serves as Visiting consultant to the Engineering, Technology Faculties …. etc of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and has contributed to national institutions as Resource Counsellor to the Sri Lanka Navy and as a Consultant to the Sri Lanka Police Academy. Moreover, he is a Visiting Lecturer in Management and Psychology.
Prof. Wijetilleke has held extensive leadership roles within professional and civic organisations. Within the Lions and LEO movement, District and Zone Chairman, District and Regional Coordinator – Lions International 306A1, and LEO Multiple District Director 306 (Sri Lanka). He was appointed the first Sri Lankan LEO Representative to chair the First International LEO Conference at the First LEO Convention in the USA (2007) and became the first Sri Lankan LEO appointed as Sergeant-at-Arms at the 90th International Lions Convention in the USA (2007).
He has also served as President and Vice President of Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Toastmasters – Sri Lanka; held multiple leadership roles within Toastmasters International District 82 such as District Logistics Manager, Division Director, Area Director and D. TLI Chair are few to name. & served as Committee Member of the Organisation of Professional Associations (OPA); Executive Council Member of IMSL; Mentor for CIM (UK); and Trustee and Internal Auditor of the Dharma Vijaya Foundation (incorporated under a special Parliamentary Act).
He has been recognised among The Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Sri Lanka (TOYP) to represent Sri Lanka Internationally.and has received national honours including Deshamannya, Lanka Janaranjana, Lanka Puthra and Vishva Abimani (2012). He was also awarded the International Icon Excellence Award – “The Most Promising & High Benchmark Role in Management & Psychology of the Year 2026”.

Nayanganie Dulani Wickramasingha is a finance professional holding the FCMA/CGMA designation issued by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of the UK as well as a master’s degree in business administration (MBA), and a BSc (2nd Class Upper) awarded by University of Colombo.
During a career spanning 27 years, she gained experience working in several industries including payment services, shipping, insurance and audit services. Her most recent roles were that of Head of Finance at MMBL Money Transfer (Pvt.) Ltd, a joint venture between Aitken Spence PLC and Mercantile Merchant Bank Ltd which acts as a local representative for several international money transfer platforms including Western Union and that of Group Financial Controller at Greenlanka Group, which was the local agent for one of the largest shipping lines in the world, Evergreen Line.
Mr. Sanjeewa Bandaranayke has over 36 years of extensive experience, including 31 years of expertise in the Non-Banking Financial Institution (NBFI) sector. He currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of People’s Leasing & Finance PLC and is also a Director of People’s Leasing Property Development Limited and People’s Leasing Fleet Management Limited. He joined People’s Leasing & Finance PLC (PLC) in 2007 as the DGM – Finance & Administration. At PLC, Mr. Bandaranayake has led multiple strategic functions, including Finance, Treasury, Administration, Human Resources, Information Technology, Credit, and Marketing. His significant contribution to the Company’s growth helped PLC to achieve and maintain its position as the market leader in the NBFI sector for 15 consecutive years.
Mr. Bandaranayake is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Australia, Fellow of the Society of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka and a Finalist of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK). Further, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka appointed Mr. Bandaranayake to serve as the acting CEO to resurrect three troubled finance companies in 2009, 2013 and 2015. He also served as a Director of Credit Information Bureau (CRIB) for over a decade. He served as the Chairman of Leasing Association twice and a Board Member for over 10 years. He was also a Board Member of Finance Houses Association.
Mr. Perera is a seasoned entrepreneur and strategic consultant, bringing with him more than a decade of leadership and operational experience. As the Founder and CEO of IKON Group of Companies, he has earned a reputation for steering businesses towards digital excellence and brand elevation, both locally and internationally.
He is widely recognized for his expertise in branding, digital transformation, and finance. Throughout his career, Mr. Perera has served as a consultant to several local and global organizations, contributing significantly to their growth and innovation agendas. His visionary leadership in brand growth hacking and media integration strategies has made him a valuable asset on numerous corporate boards in both the private and public sectors.
In addition to his corporate roles, Mr. Perera is also an academic contributor and a recognised lecturer in Accounting, Finance, and Risk Management, sharing his knowledge through leading academic institutions and professional programs.
He currently holds several key positions including Chief Marketing Officer at Northlark Pte Ltd,
Chairman/Non-Executive Non-Independent Director at People’s Micro Commerce Limited, Non-Executive Non-Independent Director at People’s Leasing & Finance PLC and Non-Executive Independent Director at Hotel Developers Lanka Ltd, the owning company of Hilton Colombo.
Mr. Perera holds an MBA from the University of the West of Scotland and a BSc (Hons) in Chemical and Process Engineering from the University of Moratuwa. He is a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA – CIMA UK), a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM – CIM UK), and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Professional Managers (MCPM – CPM Sri Lanka).
Ms.Thushari Hewawasam presently serves as Deputy General Manager – Commercial Credit of People’s Bank. Prior to that, she served as DGM – International Banking at People’s Bank. Commencing her career as a Management Trainee with the bank in 2002, she has amassed over 23 years of extensive experience across diverse banking domains, including Credit, Branch Banking, Corporate Banking, and International Banking. Her specialized proficiency in Corporate and Business lending spans two decades.
Ms. Thushari Hewawasam holds a Bachelor of Science Special Degree in Agriculture with second upper class honours from the University of Peradeniya and has furthered her education with an MBA from the Open University of Sri Lanka. Additionally, she is recognized as an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka. Demonstrating her commitment to continuous professional development, she holds esteemed memberships, including being an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) (UK) and an Associate member of the Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA) (UK).
Ms. Hewawasam holds esteemed positions in several prestigious professional associations. She serves as a Council Member of the Association of Professional Bankers and is a Board Member of the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka, where she also contributes as a member of the Banking Committee. Additionally, she holds a directorship at People’s Leasing Fleet Management Ltd, Lanka Financial Services Bureau Ltd and International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka.
