People’s Insurance PLC successfully implemented the Anuradhapura Sacred City Plastic Waste Management Initiative in collaboration with the North Central Province Governor’s Office and the Anuradhapura Municipal Council.
The official handover and placement of 6 PET bottle collection cages took place at the Anuradhapura Municipal Council on 28th June 2026, marking an important step towards promoting plastic waste management in one of Sri Lanka’s most visited religious destinations.
This initiative aims to encourage the proper segregation and disposal of plastic waste while supporting the principles of a circular economy, where recyclable materials can be collected and given a new purpose. By providing dedicated collection points for PET bottles, the initiative encourages visitors and the public to dispose of plastic responsibly rather than allowing it to accumulate in public spaces causing pollution and potential threat to our wildlife and scenery.
Through this initiative, People’s Insurance PLC continues to contributing towards creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment at the Anuradhapura Sacred City. It also reflects the Company’s commitment to supporting meaningful environmental initiatives and encouraging responsible practices that can make a lasting difference within the community.
